The holiday season is just around the corner.  How ready are you to take advantage of the consumers’ shopping behavior?

This time of the year is crucial for many businesses and with some planning you can take advantage of the Christmas period and make it more profitable for your business.

So don’t let the festive season sneak up on you!




  • Take on new staff to help with increased demand – Remember you may need to increase your business hours or pack and send more online purchases during this busy time.
  • Stock up – Have plenty of stock on hand to deal with the rush.
  • Gift vouchers – Perfect time of year to promote gift vouchers and offer an incentive for people to buy.


With a rush of flyers, emails, promotions and catalogues fighting for attention, advertising is important to ensure you stay top of mind.

  • Decide on your advertising offers – it doesn’t have to be complicated.
  • Promote your special offers – Update your website with ad banners, send out newsletters to your customers, use in-store advertising and window displays, social media, sms, press ads or take one flyers.

Do away with obstacles 

  • Train your staff and make sure they are familiar with your offers and are ready to sell.
  • Have plenty of stock.
  • Have a strong call to action inviting people to call, email, visit or buy online.
  • Think customer and be open when they are ready to buy i.e. on the way to work, during the day or on the way home. 

Events – a great way to say thank you

  • Invite your existing customers to Christmas lunch or drinks to thank them for their business.
  • Encourage them to invite a guest – great way to meet prospective customers.
  • Sent out Christmas or thank you cards and include a hand written message. Hand written cards are more personal and can make a stronger impression especially with so many people now sending e-cards.
