‘Tis the season to start your Christmas advertising

‘Tis the season to start your Christmas advertisingThe holiday season is approaching faster than Santa’s sleigh. Which means now is the time to launch your Christmas advertising campaign.

If you’re like many of my small business clients, you’ve probably been too busy to even think about advertising. But if you don’t start now, you run the risk of sending out a rushed campaign or doing nothing and missing out on crucial holiday sales.

Why advertise now?

Christmas seems to come earlier every year. Several retail giants launched their first holiday season ads in September and many consumers have already started Christmas shopping.

Whether you have a shopfront or sell online, spruiking your services or products now can help you attract an eager market and gain new, repeat or referral customers for the New Year.

How to advertise in the silly season

When planning your Christmas advertising, consider what your customers want. For example, if you run a landscaping business, you could offer discounted gardening packages with a guarantee to get the job done before Christmas.

Or if you’re a personal trainer, you could promote pre-paid sessions to entice people planning to shed those pesky holiday kilos in the New Year.

Gift vouchers are another great idea – making it easy for your customers to tick off their Christmas list.

Here are a few ways to promote your offer:

  • Contact your existing database
  • Organise a VIP event to promote your products and include a special offer to purchase on the day
  • Offer an incentive to customers to refer your business
  • Do a letterbox drop in your local area
  • Advertise in local media
  • Update your website and use social media
